3D Body Scanner Technology

3D scanning technology can collect point cloud data on the surface of environment or objects for 3D reconstruction using contact or contactless methods. In the following section, we will introduce the application of contactless 3D scanning technology in body scanning.

The key to 3D body scanning is depth information. It takes approximately 30 sec to get 3D scanned and dozens of parameters are acquired simultaneously. 3D scanning has the advantages of fast, high repeatability than manual measurements and contactless. 3D scanning technique has been used in body composition analysis with many research and commercial products available over the past ten years. The anthropometric indices acquired by 3D scanning technology can also be used to improve the accuracy of bioelectrical impedance analysis. Currently, StarBIA is working through the development of novel bioelectrical impedance analyzer, using the advanced artificial intelligence and statistics algorithms, to provide more accuracy data analysis.
